Michael was fortunate enough to be able to perform with his Grandpa Shorty one more time before his death in 1982. That show was at The Fat City Saloon in Atlantic Beach, Florida where members from .38 Special, Leslie Hawkins (formerly with Lynyrd Skynyrd) and several other bands performed that night.
Michael has performed, played sessions and shared the stage with prominent music artists and professionals such as Livingston Taylor, legendary saxophonist Phil Kenzie (The Beatles, The Eagles, Rod Stewart), record producer Michael Stewart (Polygram), awesome singer and "sawnrider" Larry Johnson (#1 Hit, Don't Take the Girl and others), lead guitarist and record producer Dale Russell (The Guess Who) Christian recording artist Krista, T.C. Carr and the Catch, Donna Frost, Rusty Horn, Bo Diddley, Dickey Betts, Vassar Clements and Blackfoot.
Others include The Whiskey Dogs, Partners in Crime (good friend, Michael Baron), High, Wide & Handsome (Linda Squeo, Bob Sullivan), Quarter Moon (Annie Mark, Steve Chandler, Bill Smith),Gary Stewart ("She's Acting Single..."), Hungry Mother (good friend, Steve Gartner), singing and very talented songwriting partner Tim Vaughn (see Herring & Vaughn), Sherry Herring (sister & awesome singer), multi-instrumentalist John Wheeler (Renaissance Recording) and Fred "Man of a Million Chords" Whildon, and the list goes on. Michael and his wife Sue moved to Music City USA in September 1994 to enable Michael the opportunity to pursue his song writing and session musician career. Michael states "So far it has been great. I have had the privilege of playing and performing with some of the finest, most talented singers, songwriters and musicians that Nashville has to offer".
